5+ Players Game. 'Chidiya Ud' is a simple game which serves as a good time-pass even for small children. The game also tests a child's mental alertness and decision-making skills.
How To Play :
The children sit or stand in a row in front of one child who serves as the leader. The leader shouts out the name of an animal or a bird. If the leader has called out the name of a bird, the other children have to raise their hands (like a flying bird). The children should keep still if the name is that of an animal which cannot fly.
The leader speaks out the names of various animals and birds randomly, one after the other. He tries to trick the rest of the kids by saying 'gaddha ud' or 'sher ud' in between.
If any child raises his/her hands when the name of an animal is announced or keeps it still when the name of a bird is announced, he/she is out of the game. The player who does not get caught till the time everyone else has been caught, is the winner.
Warning :
Variation :
A popular variation of the game involves using just the index finger. The players put their index fingers on the table while the leader speaks the names of animals and birds (saying chidiya ud, tota ud, sher ud etc.). If it is a bird, you need to raise the finger. If the name of an animal has been called out, you must keep the finger still.
You can even play this game in your class room the next time you have a free period, but do remember to take your teacher's permission!
