| | How Many Players : | |
| | Hop scot is played by schoolchildren around the country. But there are rules to remember. You cannot put your feet in the house or square you are trying to capture. So if you're trying to capture the first house, hop on one foot and cross over to square number 2 (the next square). Now, you have to hop from square to square till you reach number 8. Just remember not to step on the line or you will be out.
After reaching the final square jump and turn back. Then hop back to square number 2. Now bend down to pick up the disc from the first square (be careful or you might lose your balance!). Now hop outside the rectangle and try to capture house number 2 in the same way! You can capture all the houses in one turn if you follow these rules:
Don't step in the house you are trying to capture; don't put both feet in the same square; don't step on the boundary line; and most important, throw your stone carefully so that it falls in the house you have to capture!
The players take turns at trying to capture houses. The player who succeeds in capturing all squares one after the other stands with his back towards the rectangle and throws the disc over his head into the court. The number in which the disc falls, is now the players "house" and he can step into that house with both feet. The rest of the players, however have to keep out of that square.
The game goes on as long as you feel like playing and at the end, the child owning the maximum number of houses is the winner.
The game requires a small ground or concrete space which should be first marked by chalk into a rectangular play area. The rectangular area is further divided into 8 numbered houses (see accompanying picture).
3+ Plyers Game. A flat disc of stone called 'Tikkar Billa' is used to play the game. The main objective is to capture as many houses as possible. The houses have to be captured in a sequence - first you have to capture Number 1, then 2, and so on. The player who captures the maximum number of houses, wins.
|
| | How To Play : The players take turns at attempting to capture a house. The player who gets the first turn stands in front of the rectangle and tries to throw the disc in the first square. If he succeeds, he has to hop on one leg and complete a round of all the houses. While moving in houses 4 - 5 and 7 - 8, he can put both his feet down (one in each house).
